Advocate

F.A.I.R writes letters and meets with politicians to advocate for humane asylum policy and immigration reform. We have written 3 letters to policy makers advocating for reform of detention centers- each reaching over 100 student signatures, and have met with Delegate Vaughn Stewart about MD HB 677, the "Dignity Not Detention Act."

Volunteer

F.A.I.R aids immigrants and refugees in the community through direct volunteer opportunities. Currently, F.A.I.R hosts Zoom sessions with Refugee children of families resettled through the Lutheran Social Services, to help the children practice English through reading stories, playing games, and having conversations.

F.A.I.R has fundraised for the Young Center for Immigrant Rights, an organization that sends child advocates to unaccompanied children at the border, and Freedom for Immigrants, an organization that provides legal counsel and an Alternative Accompaniment Program to adults and families in detention.
